Cans for a Cause: Key Club’s 7th annual Tukey Teacher Competition

Gianna DiPasquale

Key Club’s 7th annual Turkey Teacher Competition at Ward Melville High School was a success. For the past 4 weeks, non perishable food items have been collected in boxes outside of the library labeled with teacher and faculty members names. The teacher whose box received the least amount of cans had to wear a turkey hat all day on Tuesday November 24th, the day before Thanksgiving break.

This year, Mr. Finnerty lost with a donation of 22 cans and Ms.Kane won with an incredible 1,102 cans. Following behind was Mr.Miller with 236 cans and Ms.Russo with 148. Way to go Ward Melville! These items are greatly appreciated by the Three Village community donated to families in need and local soup kitchens such as Our Daily Bread at St. James Church and Island Harvest.

All together 2,744 cans were were donated. What a heartwarming way to kick off Thanksgiving break and show support in our community and a huge thanks to Key Club for running such an awesome food drive!

Kaleidoscope wishes everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
