Correction: In our profile of Congressman LaLota, we incorrectly wrote that he “did not issue a statement about the president’s widely-condemned social media post depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.” LaLota did release a statement, calling those images in the post “racist.” However, unlike some of his Republican colleagues who condemned the president, LaLota blamed the post on White House staffers, thereby repeating the administration’s claims.
