On November 29, 2022, the United States National Men’s Team beat Iran in the group stage of the World Cup, and the country has been all abuzz about it ever since.

The team won 1-0, following ties with both England and Wales.  The U.S. will play the Netherlands on Saturday, December 3, in the Round of 16.

Midfielder Christian Pulisic scored the winning goal, suffering a “pelvic contusion” after colliding with the Iranian goalkeeper;  it is not known if he will play in the match against the Netherlands on December 3, despite his repeated insistence that he will be ready.

When Pulisic was asked about his winning goal, he said, “To score a goal and help the team in any way I can is what I’m here to do. I want to make big plays and want to do what I can to help this team. But I by no means want that to be the only thing I look back on from this tournament.”

The team is currently ranked second in Group B, below England, but above Iran and Wales. England has currently won two matches and has one draw; America has won one match and has two draws.  Iran has won one match and has two losses; Wales has lost two games and has one draw.
