Many Ward Melville students are on the Setauket based Islandbots robotics team. The team has recently qualified for the First Tech Challenge robotics world tournament in St. Louis on April 22nd. This event marks the culmination of numerous qualifying tournaments, in which the team created and continuously worked on a robot over the last few months. Team members from Ward Melville High School include Andrey Lukin, Andrew Mata, Alec Douglas, Jake Welde, Gary Ge, Alex Frenkel, Henry Nelson, Natasha Butkevich, Nikita Podobedov, and Nestor Tkachenko, and from Port Jefferson High School, Julia Kharzeev, Lev Bershadsky and David Bershadsky.
