Rihanna, a singer, actress, and head of the Fenty makeup and clothing brand, is now appointed “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary” of her home country, Barbados.

The superstar became a cultural ambassador for Barbados in 2008, promoting travel and commerce towards Barbados. However, she now faces more responsibility as the Ambassador of Barbados.

The Barbadian Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, said in a statement that her government was honored “to be able to confer the title on this outstanding Barbadian who has contributed significantly to raising the island’s profile across the world.” Along with this, the Prime Minister also said that “Rihanna has a deep love for this country, and it is reflected in philanthropy, especially in the areas of the health and education.”
