If you want the newest iPhone, you may have to wait an entire month in some locations. Apple’s new iPhone 14 sold out within 45 minutes of its release at the Dubai Mall on Friday, September 16. Hundreds of customers lined up for the Apple store’s opening, with some arriving four hours beforehand. In Thailand, a queue emerged with up to twelve-hour wait times. The Apple Fifth Avenue store in New York City had lines wrapping around its entrance. The excitement for the newest smartphone was global, but Apple didn’t expect this much demand.

On September 7, Apple unveiled its newest line of smartphones during a live-streamed keynote. The new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models feature an advanced TrueDepth camera on both the rear and front-facing cameras. Since it includes a larger sensor, pictures taken are processed much faster and display more vibrant colors in comparison to older models. The phone utilizes an A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core GPU that delivers “incredible performance and efficiency for demanding workloads,” according to Apple. The size of the iPhone 14 model is 6.1 inches, whereas the Plus model is 6.7 inches. The phone comes in Midnight Blue, Starlight, Purple, and PRODUCT RED. Purchasing Apple’s PRODUCT RED supports AIDS programs and the COVID-19 response.

At the same unveiling event, Apple announced the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, which both boast an A16 bionic chip, said to be the fastest in any smartphone. Apple emphasized the phone’s new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, which includes an Always-On feature so users can quickly glance at their lock screen for the time and customizable widgets. Moreover, the screen’s peak brightness is twice as bright as its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro. The phone’s upgraded camera system includes a new 48MP camera with a quad-pixel sensor, allowing its users to take detailed photos and videos. The sizes of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively, and come in Deep Purple, Silver, Gold, and Space Black.

Additionally, on September 12, Apple released a software update compatible with iPhone 8 models and later. This update, labeled iOS 16, improved lock screen customizability. It also introduced features in the Messages app, such as the ability to edit or undo sent text messages.

While Apple also released the Apple Watch and AirPods Pro this month, the new iPhones take the spotlight as they are on track to hold 60% of the high-end smartphone market. Concluding another fall season of new releases, Apple continues to thrive by exciting its fans with innovative products.
