Last night, on January 17th, 2017, all of the Ward Melville orchestras put on a wonderful concert for families and friends. The performances consisted of the festival orchestra, symphony orchestra, and chamber orchestra. Each group performed several pieces, inviting members of the band to perform the last few pieces with them.

Katie Zhao, a sophomore in festival orchestra, says on her first concert at the high school, “It went better than I thought it would go…it was exciting to perform in front of everybody.” It was a wonderful concert for all who watched and was an especially proud moment for all of the parents to see the accomplishments of their children. One parent recalled that while they enjoyed the performances of the orchestras, they also “loved the addition of the band.”

Though it certainly required a lot of practice and dedication from everyone involved, it definitely ended up a success!
