The Ward Melville Girls 4x4m relay team of Allyson Gaedje, Samantha Rutt, Samantha Sturgess, and Hannah Hobbes is headed to the Millrose Games, the most prestigious indoor track meet in the country, this Saturday, February 20th. The meet, which began in 1908, brings together the top high school, collegiate, and professional athletes from around the country. Over the years, the meet has fielded a laundry list of Olympians including Bernard Lagat, Lolo Jones, Matthew Centrowitz, and former “fastest man alive” Carl Lewis.

The Ward Melville team qualified for the race by finishing second, in a time of 4:01.7, at the Millrose Trials on January 13th. They will be the first Ward Melville girls to compete in the Milrose Games since Mary Kate Anselmini, who briefly held the national girls high school steeplechase record, ran the mile in 2011.
