Saturday Night Live, the late night comedy show that first began in 1975, released information regarding the hosts and musical guests that will appear on its 50th season.
On September 28, Grammy-winning Jean Smart hosted alongside musical guest and Grammy nominee Jelly Roll. Earlier this month on October 5, stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze returned to SNL after his highly-rated performance last year, along with a consistent musical guest on the show: Coldplay. On October 12, Ariana Grande hosted, with Stevie Nicks returning as musical guest for the first time since 1983. Beetlejuice star Micheal Keaton will also return to SNL for his 4th time, with Oscar award winner Billie Eilish, also performing for her 4th time. On November 2, John Mulaney, a retired SNL writer, will be making an appearance for the 6th time. Chappell Roan, a fast-rising pop star, will be making her musical debut on the show beside Mulaney.
With the announcement of all of these new musical guests and hosts also comes the announcement of new SNL cast members. This season’s new cast members include Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline—a social media comedian who gained traction for her TikTok content. Returning cast members include Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Kenan Thompson, Sarah Sherman and “Weekend Update” reporters Micheal Che and Colin Jost. Departing members include Molly Kearney, Punkie Johnson, and the new addition to SNL’s 49th season, Chloe Troast.
