Ed Sheeran Quitting Music?!

Whenever Ed Sheeran comes out with a new ballad, it seems to dominate every radio station, and resonate with a wide variety of listeners. It would be hard to imagine a music industry without Sheeran’s sappy songs, but soon it might become a reality.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Sheeran said that his ambition would probably plummet after having kids.

My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids,” he said. “I am going to be like, ‘I don’t really care anymore as I have another life to take care of.”

This revelation was shared after his recent engagement to Cherry Seaborn, a high school crush.

On January 20th, their engagement was announced to Sheeran’s more than twenty million instagram followers with a picture of the couple captioned, “Got myself a fiance just before the new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”.

Sheeran’s intentions to take a break from the fast paced music industry to focus on his family are completely justified and understood by his fans as well.

However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Sheeran leave the spotlight for some downtime.

In 2016, he ditched his phone and went off the grid to travel and have some time to himself, and take a brief reprise from the constant motion of his daily life. In addition, Sheeran used the break to start work on his third, and arguably most successful album that has now sold more than one million copies.

Also, Sheeran has recently admitted to struggling with substance abuse as a result of getting into the music industry a little too fast, possibly.

I think you need to, when you get into the industry, adjust to it — and I didn’t adjust because I was constantly working on tour. And all the pitfalls that people read about, I just found myself slipping into all of them. Mostly, like, substance abuse.” Sheeran said on an episode of The Jonathan Ross Show.

Sheeran also claims that having Seaborn in his life helped him recover and get back on track.

While it’s hard to think of what life would be like without Sheeran’s heart-wrenching love songs, his break from the music industry is well deserved.
