The 2017 spring sports season has officially begun, and teams this year are already showing promise in what can be achieved. Whether it be due to strong returning players or past successes, potential can be seen in many of the teams this year. Here is a quick preview of the 2017 season:

Lacrosse

Boys

• The team made the state championships last year and have been performing well consistently year after year. This year should be no different.
• Notable Returning players: Dominic Pryor, Eddie Munoz, Zach Hobbes, Andrew Lockhart, Ryan Pallonetti, Alex Mazzone, and Liam Davenport

Girls

• Although the girls did not make it far in playoffs last season, they are determined to make it all the way this season.  Already, they are showing superior talent and dedication.
• Notable Returning players: Kiera Alventosa, Alex Hart, Hannah Hobbes, Madison Hobbes, Kathryn Hopkins, Kerry Mckeever, Kelly Quinn, Camryn Agostino, Kassidy Rogers-Healion, Kaitlin Thornton, Hannah Lorenzen, Isabella Nelin, and Megan Raftery

Track and Field

Boys

• Most notable is the addition of football players to the team this year coached by coach Boltrek. They will provide a larger pool of throwers, sprinters, and jumpers to better round out the team.
• The 4x1600m and 4x800m team have just competed at New Balance Indoor Nationals and have chance to make the Penn Relays.
• Notable Returning runners: Danny Ryan, Eric Zulkofske, Matthew Viscosi, Caleb Wheeler, Reynaldo Rosefort, and Brandon Cea

Girls

• The DMR just competed at New Balance Indoor Nationals and the 4x800m made states.
• Both relay teams and the 4x400m have a chance at Penn Relays, New Balance Nationals Outdoor, and states.
• Notable Returning runners: Allyson Gaedje, Elizabeth Radke, Samantha Sturgess, Shannon Ryan, Sam Rutt, and Kate Cochran

Baseball

• Tied for first in League 1 last year.
• Notable Returning Players: Ben Brown, Joey Rosselli, Max Nielson, Tom Hudzik, and Matthew Hudzik

Boys Tennis

• First in League 5 last year. This year is a reloading of last year’s top performers.
• Notable Returning Players: Alex Benanti, Devin Wackett, Dylan Ratner, Matt Roberts, Jon Gruberg, and Nick Decker

Underdogs: Girls Golf and Softball

Though these teams have faced setbacks in the past, we are waiting for the comeback. We wish them good luck this season!
