DECA Excels at Regionals

Last Wednesday, on January 4th, 2017, 38 members of the newly formed DECA club attended a field trip to attend the regional competition. DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an international association of high school and college students and teachers. It prepares students for careers in finance, marketing, management, and many other useful areas.

In only its first year, Ward Melville’s DECA club was able to excel at the regional competition, with 18 students placing in the top three in their respective events. We congratulate the following DECA members, who placed in the top three in their respective events and thus qualified to compete at the state competition in Rochester this March:

  • Joshua Farahzad and Will Jin (2nd Place – Buying & Merchandising Management Team)

  • Andrew Kirillov (2nd Place – Accounting Applications)

  • Justin Bertini (2nd Place – Automotive Services Marketing)

  • Elizabeth Wang (2nd Place – Quick Serve Restaurant Management) 

  • Jenna Fu and Ari Solomon (3rd Place – Travel & Tourism Marketing Team)
