Packed with patriots dressed in green and gold, the stands were visibly shaking Saturday afternoon as the football players anxiously waited to run out and begin their 2015 Homecoming game against the Northport Tigers.

Ward Melville started off strong in the first quarter with a touchdown by #2 Nick Cervone but Northport responded quickly with two touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead. The Patriots kept their heads held high though, entering halftime down 21-7.

As the team headed to the locker room, the marching band took the field and performed a medley of songs for their halftime routine, while the Ward Melville Varsity, Junior Varsity and Junior High School Cheerleaders invited the crowd to join in on their Patriot Pride.

After halftime, Ward Melville made a 14 point 4th quarter comeback with touchdowns by #27 Vincent Negri and #1 John Corpac, but unfortunately this was not enough to win the game. It ended with a final score of 35-21 in favor of Northport. Regardless of the score, the fans maintained their homecoming spirit all throughout the game.

On Friday, October 2nd, the Patriots will travel to Sachem North to take the field again for a Section 11 Division II game. The Patriots now hold a 1-2 record and will be playing Sachem North coming off of a loss 21-2 to William Floyd, leaving their record at 1-3. Let’s go Patriots!
